Описание: INS Vikrant is India’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier, designed and constructed by Cochin Shipyard Limited.

It was commissioned into the Indian Navy on September 2, 2022, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The carrier displaces around 45,000 tons, stretches 262 metres long, and can carry up to 30 aircraft, including MiG-29K fighters and helicopters.

INS Vikrant is powered by four gas turbines generating 88 megawatts, with a top speed of about 28 knots.

It’s a major step toward India’s goal of self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
