Francisco Correa – Guitarist (Colombia–UK)

Praised by Gramophone for his “eloquence” and by Soundboard Magazine for his “beautiful and expressive playing,” Colombian guitarist Francisco Correa is recognised for his captivating performances and versatility. He has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in over 20 countries across the UK, Europe, and South America.

In 2024 he was named Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM), honouring his distinguished career as performer, recording artist, and cultural ambassador. He has performed with major orchestras on both sides of the Atlantic, including the Grammy-winning Bogotá Philharmonic and the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, and has been featured on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune and international broadcasts.

His sixth album, Songs from Beyond (Deux-Elles), explores John Duarte’s masterful arrangements of Broadway and Hollywood classics, reimagined for the guitar with striking lyricism.

A passionate chamber musician, he tours with flautist Emily Andrews (Duo Correa-Andrews) celebrating Colombian and Latin American music, and co-founded CarmenCo, creators of the acclaimed A Pocket Opera. An advocate for contemporary music, he has premiered and recorded more than 50 new works.

Francisco is Artistic Director of Bristol Classical Guitar Society, Bath Guitar Festival, and co-director of Ham Farm Festival.

Another focus is to work closely with established and young, largely unknown luthiers. Together we want to develop new ideas and share experiences with our customers. We also recorded pieces for many great composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Astor Piazzolla and Isaac Albeniz (Asturias).
