00:14 Blue goes for osoto-gari but does not compromise Red's balance but she does weaken her own while hopping on one leg. Red counters with an osoto of her own and Blue crashes to the mat. It has been my experience in watching lower level competitions that osoto-gari seldom works for the person attempting it, however the counter has a moderately high chance of success for the person the aggressor is trying to throw with osoto.

Red tries to crush Blue's face for a bit. Blue seems unfazed as she still feels safe to drop her hand to attempt guard recovery.

01:31 Blue tries to roll Red with the half guard but the leg slips out and Red gets mount. Red keeps mount just long enough to get the points then Blue hits an upa.

03:46 After a long time in closed guard without either being able to do a lot. Blue attempts a guard pass but Red uses her over eager charge at the guard pass as a chance to off balance. A scramble ensues with Blue taking the back . But the takedown from the beginning gives Red the win.

Thoughts on the match: Good on both competitors for getting out there and going after it. The lead up to a competition can cause many to drop out . Get comfortable with one or two takedowns that you can pull off against resistance . The counter to osoto-gari is worth knowing, many entry level competitors throw osoto-gari continually and are open to counter because they have very little chance of success. When you are in bottom guard shift your hips to get angles and off balances. Stay after it and keep fighting the entire match especially if you are behind.
