Why am I running fast short distances to be able to run 100 miles? It’s about running economy. The better I get at running short distances faster with less energy, the longer I’ll be able to keep going when moving slowly! Run fast to run slow I say!
Set a PR in the 10k today. In the snow, at altitude…. But I’ve never run shorter races. Imml king to compare my winter fitness to last years summer fitness, and find my benchmark for trying a fast 10k late this Spring. Week 5 of 2026 training in the books.
In September 2026, our head coach Brandon will line up at the Run Rabbit Run 100 ultramarathon race through the Colorado Rocky Mountains, starting in Steamboat Springs.

Some milestone races are planned along the way. A 50k cross country ski race, an attempt at a 10k run PR in Spring. And there’s a 14 hour elevation challenging at Granby Ranch ski resort in June.
