The Guardian returned to the scene of the Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) building 15 days after it went up in flames, which recorded the death of eight persons, including three people of the same family: Stephen Onyeka Omatu, 50; Casmir Nnabuike Omatu, 39; and Collins Kenechukwu Omatu, 37, who hailed from Ihiala, Anambra State.
Despite its efforts, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) is still unable to outrightly quench the fire as streets and hundreds of shops remain barricaded with zero commercial activity in part of the Multibillion-Naira business area.
