Community Tree Planting Day

Описание: We hosted our first community planting day at Presingoll Farm. Welcoming 35 local families to join us to plant a hedge.

We had the best day with an amazing turn out. Giving our community the chance to join us for the day to learn all about The Grower what we do and why, as well as the farm and its aims for working with nature.

We were eaten out of biscuits, cakes, saffron buns and pasties which can only mean one thing. A well worked workforce. We planted well over 350 trees and gave a demo for how to plant a double staggered row hedge. Using Hawthorne, blackthorn, cherry, wild plum, sycamore and beech. All grown on the farm and chosen for this location as it’s gets the worst of our north Cornish coast weather. So we aimed to diversify the species mix for flowering varieties, create a hardy windbreak and hopefully introduce some tree species. (Fingers crossed) these trees were all planted along a footpath so our guests can come back anytime to see how their trees grow!

Inez created some nature activity packs for the children learning about all the animals which call the farm our home as well as an I-spy search game - looking for mini beast, bees and flowers.
