Описание: Pop Goes The Culture presents a special episode honoring the great Jack Kirby. Today, my guest is Paul Levitz. Writer, former president and publisher of DC Comics. Author of several books including the ginormous “75 Years of DC Comics: The Art of Modern Mythmaking”.

Not simply an artist or writer, over the course of more than fifty years, Kirby was arguably the most prolific and innovative creator in the history of comic books, influencing generations of, not just comic creators but authors, artists and film makers. Some of his creations and co-creations include: Captain America. Thor. Iron Man. The Hulk. The Avengers. The X-Men. Giant Man. The Black Panther. The Silver Surfer. The Fantastic Four. Agents of Shield. The Inhumans. Groot. Sandman. The Demon. Darkseid.

When Kirby passed in 1994 at the age of 76, he left behind a legacy of stories and characters that have sparked the imaginations of millions – and made tens of billions of dollars for Disney’s Marvel and Warner Brothers' DC Comics.

We'll be talking about Jack Kirby's legacy and Paul's personal experiences with the King of Comics.
