Smorgonskaya's evocative and sentimental piece, written for Myrna Herzog in 2004, takes us into an imaginary trip to Spain, through the masterful paintings of David Roberts (1796 – 1864) and José Luiz Bernardes Ribeiro's sensitive photos of the Sinagoga del Transito in Toledo and Córdoba's Synagogue.
Myrna Herzog's performance of Dina Smorgonskaya's Sephardic Reminiscences is part of the CD Sing My Lyre, available at https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/singmylyre
Since it was written, the piece has been an indispensable part of the repertoire of Myrna's solo viol recitals in Europe, Asia, North and South America. It has been a favorite of the public, and it has inspired other composers to write for the viola da gamba.
