Terramater is a celebration of matter itself, a collection manufactured with Italian clays and earths that rediscovers the aesthetic of hand-made ceramic surfaces, superseding the concept of imitating nature. In days gone by, earth, water, hands and fire were all used in the artisanal making of vases, cookware and tiles. Today, these same ingredients are central to Marazzi’s industrial output, and create unique, rich, surfaces steeped in memories. The intentionally generous thicknesses, the uneven edges and the flawed and extremely glossy surface all explicitly reference hand-made ceramics as the inspiration. To achieve the highest levels of quality and sustainability, Terramater is produced with Italian raw materials and contains 60% recycled material.
The collection is available in eight intense, deep colours – Vaniglia, Dune, Muschio, Lichene, Laguna, Cotto and Carbone – generated by the reactions between natural oxides and glazes. The sizes are square (37.5x37.5), rectangular (37.5x18.6) and listel (37.5x9.1), and provide the basis for perpendicular, running-bond, coffered or herringbone installation patterns.
