The whole concept of human sexuality in Ancient Greece and Rome was quite different from what we have right now. Which - as always - makes mechanical transplantation of modern concepts to the ancient world very problematic. We are looking for gay people or transgender people or non-binary people in ancient world and they find… just people. People who lived in societies that were sufficiently different to invalidate the majority of these time-traveling concepts.
