Torrential rains in recent days have caused widespread flooding and damage in Pakistan's financial capital Karachi this week, even inundating the business district. The heavy rain caused immense hardships for residents who had to step out of their homes despite the announcement of a public holiday on Monday as they complained the authorities had not done enough to mitigate the effects of extreme weather.
