Built in 1715 as a Baroque planned city, Karlsruhe is celebrating its 300th anniversary around the castle. The city is now a center for art and media technology. At the beginning of the 18th century Margrave Karl Wilhelm built Karlsruhe according to the ideal of an absolutistic city.
