A rare Himalayan moment, filmed entirely on phone — but felt straight from the heart of the mountains.
After a long and careful search through slippery, snow-covered meadow slopes, we finally encountered a beautiful flock of Snow Partridge in the breathtaking Tungnath Temple region of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary.
The approach wasn’t easy — icy ground beneath our boots, thin mountain air, and the constant need to move slowly and respectfully. Our guest was quietly focused on photographing the flock while I captured this special moment on my phone.
What made this sighting truly magical was what happened next — after observing us calmly for a while, the partridges gradually became comfortable. As they continued feeding, they slowly moved closer, almost blending into the snowy meadow, perfectly camouflaged yet fully aware.
These hardy Himalayan birds remain in this region through the winter months, and sightings are possible till the end of March. After that, they ascend to even higher mountain elevations as the seasons shift.
Moments like these remind us — patience, silence, and respect for habitat always bring rewards in the wild.
