ESPECTÁCULO DE LA NATURALEZA

Es uno de los íconos turísticos indiscutidos del sur chileno y de seguro lo has visto en folletos y guías que lo grafican en todo su esplendor, pero nada se compara con sentir el ruido del agua cayendo con fuerzas o con observar muy cerca cómo miles y miles de litros caen desde 35 metros de altura. Los Saltos del Laja son, sin duda, un espectáculo de nuestra naturaleza que debes conocer.

El río Laja nace en la cordillera de Los Andes en el Parque Nacional Laguna del Laja. Más o menos a mitad de su recorrido hacia el mar, su tranquilo caudal pasa por cuatro grandes caídas de agua, que se conocen como los Saltos del Laja, para convertirse en un río encañonado y con grandes rápidos, que desemboca en el río Claro. El salto principal, que se ve desde la carretera, tiene una altura de 35 m; la segunda caída, que se encuentra al lado de la principal, tiene una altura de 25 m, el tercer salto se ubica en el Km 1 del camino a Paraguay y mide unos 25 m y es el denominado “Salto Chico”. Finalmente la cuarta cascada se encuentra atrás de este último y mide unos 20 m de altura
