Take a walk back in time as we explore Friendship Hill National Historic Site—the beautiful estate of Albert Gallatin, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. Located near Point Marion, Pennsylvania, this hidden gem is packed with rich history, serene trails, and incredible scenery.
We started our journey in the nearby town of Point Marion and made our way to the Gallatin House, where we enjoyed a self-guided tour with the help of informative signs, audio QR codes, and a helpful park ranger. You’ll find a wishing well, a mini theater with short educational videos, and even a gift shop at the end of your visit.
Though it was storming during our visit, we made it through the woods to see Sophia’s grave, Gallatin’s first wife. The estate also offers:
• Over 10 miles of walking trails
• Plenty of picnic areas
• Restrooms
• Accessible paths
• Stunning tree-lined driveway
Friendship Hill is open year-round, with house hours from 9 AM–5 PM (May–September). Whether you’re a history lover, nature enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful day trip, Friendship Hill is highly recommended!
