Uttarakhand: Rudraprayag district continues to witness heavy rainfall, leading to rising water levels in the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, which are now flowing above the warning level. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as continuous rain has increased the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

Continuous heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand’s *Rudraprayag district* has caused a significant rise in the water levels of the **Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers**, increasing concerns about flooding in riverside and low-lying areas. Both rivers have crossed their respective warning levels, prompting the district administration and disaster-management authorities to maintain close surveillance.

Reports from July 29 recorded the Alaknanda at 626.80 metres against its 626-metre warning level, while the Mandakini was flowing at 625.50 metres against its 625-metre warning mark. Although both rivers were above warning levels, they remained below their danger marks at the time of the update.

The swollen rivers and fast-moving muddy water have raised the risk of flooding, erosion and damage to properties situated close to riverbanks. Authorities are using loudspeakers and local alert systems to advise residents, pilgrims and tourists to stay away from rivers, streams and other vulnerable locations.

Heavy rainfall has also disrupted road connectivity across the mountainous district. Seventeen roads, including a national highway and several state routes, were reported affected in Rudraprayag on July 29, while rain-related landslides and falling debris continued to create difficulties for commuters and pilgrims.

The district emergency operation centre is continuously monitoring rainfall and river levels as water inflow from upper Himalayan areas remains high. People residing in low-lying locations have been urged to follow official instructions, avoid unnecessary travel and immediately move towards safer ground if evacuation advisories are issued.

The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in several parts of Uttarakhand, with the ongoing monsoon creating the possibility of flash floods, landslides, waterlogging and further disruption to roads and essential services.
