It was revealed that Tidjane Thiam, CEO of Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse, called Bitcoin a "bubble" in a previous interview.
The banking giant Credit Suisse, which has been among the 30 most important banks in the world and has been serving since 1856, was taken over by UBS as a result of the crisis.
Here is what the CEO said in an interview with Reuters:
“Bitcoin presents a number of challenges. The first of them is really the anonymity. I think most banks in the current state of regulation have little or no appetite to get involved in a currency which has such anti-money laundering challenges.
From what we can identify, the only reason today to buy or sell Bitcoin is to make money, which is the very definition of speculation and the very definition of a bubble.”
While Bitcoin was trading around $7,000 at the time of the interview, it is trading at $27,000 these days, which is the time of Credit Suisse being taken over.
