Indian Army Is Creating Elite Baaz Battalions

Описание: 🟥 Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi announced the creation of specialised Baaz Battalions to manage India's rapidly expanding drone fleet, which has crossed 50,000 and could double within two to three years. Operating under the Army Aviation Corps, they will handle long range drones including MQ9B SkyGuardian, Heron, Hermes and indigenous UAVs.

👉 The MQ9B SkyGuardian drones are being procured from the US under a 4 billion dollar government deal, alongside Israeli Heron and Hermes UAVs that already monitor the LAC.

📌 By late 2025, around 385 infantry battalions had received Ashini drone platoons, while the Army also plans to acquire nearly 30,000 loitering munitions.

👉 Baaz Battalions will centralise drone operations, maintenance, intelligence and battlefield integration across the Army.
