National Knowledge Commission (2007) has made considerable progress in school education since independence with reference to overall literacy, infrastructure, and universal access and enrolment in schools
To encounter educational challenges in the 21st century, the National Knowledge Commission (NKC) was appointed. NKC is one of the important recent initiatives for improvement on the quality of education.
National Knowledge Commission (NKC) was constituted in June 2005 by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sam Pitroda, to Prepare a blueprint for reform of our knowledge-related institutions and infrastructure which would enable India to meet the challenges of the future.NKC has submitted recommendations on areas such as Right to Education, libraries, language, translation, portals, and knowledge networks.

राष्ट्रीय ज्ञान आयोग (NKC) का गठन जून 2005 में प्रधान मंत्री डॉ। मनमोहन सिंह द्वारा श्री सैम पित्रोदा की अध्यक्षता में किया गया था, ताकि हमारे ज्ञान संबंधी संस्थानों और बुनियादी ढाँचे में सुधार के लिए एक खाका तैयार किया जा सके, जो भारत को चुनौतियों का सामना करने में सक्षम करेगा। भविष्य के.एनकेसी ने शिक्षा के अधिकार, पुस्तकालय, भाषा, अनुवाद, पोर्टल और ज्ञान नेटवर्क जैसे क्षेत्रों पर सिफारिशें प्रस्तुत की हैं।
