I bought my dream Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake from a salvage auction — completely sight unseen.
This rear-ended 2017 Mercedes CLS 350 CDI 4MATIC with the 9-speed automatic had only 112,000 km on the clock, a full dealer service history, and an incredible factory spec. The CLS Shooting Brake was never available in the US, so this is an European spec car.
Finished in black with the AMG Sport Plus package combined with the AMG Night Package, and the rare wooden trunk floor, this CLS Shooting Brake is absolutely stunning. I first noticed this wooden trunk floor option years ago at a dealership and promised myself that one day I would own a car with this floor.
The Airmatic air suspension was completely inoperative, so the first step was removing the rear bumper and carefully assessing the damage. After a temporary repair to the suspension valve block, the air suspension came back to life — and a new valve block permanently fixed the issue.
The rear quarter panel had minor damage and was pulled back (not shown on video). Apart from the bumper, rear panel, and trunk lid, the body was perfectly straight with no hidden structural or frame damage.
This project became a more emotional journey than expected. I previously owned a CLS and deeply regretted selling it — and when this car appeared with the exact specification I had always wanted, I knew I had to take the risk.
This car is a keeper in my family — a true dream daily and the end of a long personal journey.
