A rare event has occurred in Virunga National Park, as a pair of twin mountain gorillas were born to 22-year-old Mafuko. This is a significant conservation achievement, as twin gorilla births are extremely rare, accounting for only 1% of all gorilla births. Virunga National Park, Africa's oldest, has been crucial in protecting the endangered mountain gorilla population, which now numbers fewer than 1,100 individuals in the wild. Conservation efforts continue, despite challenges from poaching and armed conflicts.
