Tech Short: WirelessHART for Refineries and Chemical Plants

I’m Roland Plett and in this tech short I’ll give you a quick description of what Wireless HART is, why you should care and where our customers are finding it most useful.

For many years the control system network has been the focal point of all connectivity solutions inside refineries and chemical plants. Now, use cases like connected worker, predictive maintenance, remote operations and condition monitoring all drive the need for more connectivity. Wifi can solve general purpose wireless challenges but moving data between applications, sensors and sometimes actuators often requires more reliability and industry specific features than wifi can provide. Wireless HART addresses this need.
