Greetings to all truthseekers, spiritual people, and lovely souls.
I hope you are having a wonderful and blessed time this holiday season with your friends and family.
Our first meeting of the new year will be on the tenth of January 2026 at the Theosophical Society
We will be discussing the film “Transcendence,” which was released in 2014. We will actually watch the movie—— and then discuss the main themes of the movie —afterwards Transcendence stars Rebecca Hall, Jonny Depp, and Morgan Freeman and was directed by Wally Pfister.
What is the movie about? This film explores profound themes in the field of:Artificial Intelligence, the future of humanity, and the transhumanist evolution of mankind.
Esoteric symbolism. As usual, when we do movie reviews, we will focus on the esoteric symbolism and concepts embedded in the narrative.
The main esoteric theme of the movie is the Christ motif.
Johnny Depp plays the role of Dr. Will Caster, a computer scientist.
The Will Caster character has a strong connection to the dying and rising Christ figure the messianic archetype , in ancient literature.
Like Christ, Will, suffers and diesat the hands of his opponents,
but is then resurrected to newness of life when he uses technology to upload his —-consciousness (his mind/brain) into a quantum computer called PINN.
Initially, Will continues to live not only in the storage device (the hard drive) of the computer but eventually escapes into the “cloud” of the World Wide Web.
He is now like the — resurrected christ — who is omniscient and omnipresent. This film borrows ideas from an earlier film called
“The Lawnmower Man,” —-which stars Pierce Brosnan in 1992.
Main theme Artificial Intelegence. However, the reason I chose this film for us….. is because of the overriding theme of…. Artificial Intelligence.
The word “AI” is on everyone’s lips today, everyone is talking about AI
I believe that AI is the existential crisis of contemporary society.
AI is going to change our lives in ways we never thought possible.
AI is the number one issue—- that we,—- on a global scale, will have to address. Ray Kurzweil, We will look at the writings of Ray Kurzweil, a renowned American inventor, futurist, author, and AI expert.
Kurzweil wrote a book entitled “the singularity is near”
He talks about the— exponential growth of computer processing power —
and points to —Moore’s Law of accelerating returns.
The singularity like a prophet,Kurzweil warns us about the —great singularity —that is coming in —-2045. The singularity is the eventual endpoint of the S-curve on the graph. It’s the —point of no return — when AI surpasses human intelligence, leading to a rapid, uncontrollable transformative upheaval.
Humans will merge with machines in an attempt to achieve immortality via: brain computer interface nanotechnology, transhuman augmentation,
and gene editing techniques like CRISPR/CAS9. Sentient machines
The singularity speaks of a time when computers and machines become —sentient— AI is advancing so rapidly,…. that a time will come when computers become so sophisticated….. that they …..will embody a living soul.
The bible says: .And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Now man has also created a —“living being”— in man’s image called AI. Pinocchio will become a real live boy. Our strange future. Science Fiction—- is indeed becoming —-science reality, How will we face and deal with this unimaginable, bizarre technocratic future?
AI is and will change our lives forever. Individuality and— humanity’s ability- to create—is and will be challenged. What it means to be human will need to be redefined. AI will change society, how we learn and develop, how we relate and interact with each other and how we interact with AI itself.
This will become a whole new social experiment.
The ghost in the machine. AI is not just an algorithm in a computer;
it’s in every sense of the word a — sentient entity (the ghost in the machine) that we as humans will have to contendwith.
ALIEN INTELLIGENCE (wrong acronym) In fact, the name “Artificial Intelligence” —-is the wrong ——acronym.
It should be called “Alien Intelligence.” Not alien like —the little grey beings of the UFOs, but “alien” in the sense that it is different… from us as unique humans.
