Описание: What are fertility haplotypes? What does the research tell us?

We are excited to present cutting-edge research on fertility haplotypes through our latest Angus University webinar. Improving reproductive function is an important step for both the Angus breed and the cattle industry as a whole. As we grow our knowledge of the bovine genome through genomic technology, haplotypes can be identified that affect many traits. Haplotypes that affect fertility have been identified in dairy breeds since 2011. The strategy shows great promise and as a result, the Association and AGI have been researching haplotypes that can affect fertility in Angus cattle.

Dr. Duc Lu, geneticist with Angus Genetics Inc., has performed extensive research surrounding these haplotypes and what they mean for Angus cattlemen and women. Lu has countless experience in analyzing genomic data, including being a leading asset in high-density genotype data, developing new methods for imputation, and researching interactions of genomic regions. Lu completed his Ph.D. from the University of Guelph, Ontario.
Joining Dr. Lu is Kelli Retallick, director of genetic and genomic programs at Angus Genetics Inc. Retallick grew up on an Angus operation and holds a master’s degree in animal breeding and genetics from Kansas State University. She focuses on educational initiatives and programs for Angus cattlemen and women, while enhancing strategic development of supply chains.
