Hello students, welcome to Homework Joy!
Today we'll discuss an important topic that will help you understand the physical world better than waves. Waves are disturbances from one place to another in a regular and organized way. Most simply, waves are disturbances that oscillate periodically with a fixed frequency and wavelength. These different types of waves are useful in understanding microwaves, X-rays, radio waves, ultraviolet waves.
Some waves are an example of different types of waves like water waves. Water waves are a combination of longitude and transverse waves.

Now let's explore more about these different types of waves.
Mechanical Waves
Mechanical waves require a medium to travel. That is why these waves are responsible for the transfer of energy through a medium.
There are two common forms of mechanical waves: Longitudinal Waves and Transverse Waves
Longitudinal Waves
In longitudinal waves, the medium's displacement is in the same direction to which the wave is moving. A common example is sound waves, pressure waves.
Transverse Waves
When the particle is at the right angle, then it is a transverse wave. Light is a common example of transverse waves.
Surface Waves
When particles move in a circular motion, then the waves are known as surface waves. These waves are common in oceans.
Electromagnetic Waves
The fusion of electric and magnetic field create these types of electromagnetic waves. The colors around you are visible due to this type of wave.
