A magical night in the Sahara Desert. 🔥🥁
At Sahara Majestic Luxury Camp in Merzouga, Morocco, we experienced traditional Gnawa music around the campfire under the desert stars. As the fire was lit, the rhythmic drums began to play, filling the peaceful Sahara night with powerful beats and soulful singing.
Gnawa music is a traditional Moroccan spiritual music style known for its hypnotic rhythms, drumming, and chanting. The music has deep African roots and is an important part of Moroccan cultural heritage.
Many desert musicians belong to the Berber (Amazigh) communities, the indigenous people of North Africa who have lived in the Sahara region for thousands of years. Their music, storytelling, and hospitality create a unique cultural experience for travelers visiting the desert.
Sitting around the fire, listening to the drums echo through the dunes, and watching the stars above the Sahara was truly one of the most memorable moments of our trip.
