Thesis: Regenerative Design Strategies for MICE Facilities — More Than Just Sustainable.
Project: Tatu City MICE Centre
Location: Tatu City, Nairobi, Kenya.
The project explores how MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) facilities can evolve from sustainable to regenerative—producing their own energy, managing their own water, restoring ecosystems, and operating independently from the grid.
It focused on eight key regenerative strategies that shaped the design:
• Site & Place Adaptation.
• Energy Efficiency.
• Water-Efficient Systems.
• Material & Construction Strategies.
• Waste Elimination.
• Carbon Reduction.
• Passive Lighting & HVAC.
• Biophilic Design & Landscaping.
This work aims to show that architecture can heal—replenishing what it consumes, supporting biodiversity, and creating climate-positive event spaces.
