War Art - Supermarine Spitfire
Perhaps the most famous fighting plane of World War II, the British Spitfire was on the drawing boards as early as 1931, and when the German Luftwaffe began the campaign to destroy Britain from the air, the Supermarine Spitfire was ready, along with the Hawker Hurricane, to repel the aerial invaders. The Spitfire, with its beautiful elliptical wing and its eight Browning wing guns, continued to fight throughout the war, produced in more numbers than any other British aircraft. Music here is "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned," from The Prodigy's "Machines of War" album.
