8 days after his birth, Jesus was circumcised and St. Joseph gave Him his Name, as instructed by the Father through the Angel Gabriel. The Holy Name of Jesus means Yahweh Saves or Yahewh is Salvation. It stands for Who He is (Yahweh) and for his mission (to save us). It is holy and powerful, healing and casting out demons. This Litany of the Most Holy Name of Jesus was composed in Latin, likely in the 1400s by St. John Capistrano (1386-1456) & St. Bernadine of Siena (1380-1444) who both preached extensively on devotion to the Name of Jesus. It is great for meditation & giving glory to God anytime, it is approved for universal use, and the entire month of January is dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus.
