Описание: A National Inquiry is the most powerful tool a National Human Rights Institution has to look into complex human rights problems with the participation of the general public. It is done with precautions where necessary to ensure that vulnerable people are not hurt in the process. An important aspect is the high educational value an inquiry has because it highlights and explains a complex situation to the broad community. As stated by the National Human Rights Commissioner for Samoa, Afioga Maiava Iulai Toma, an important responsibility of the Office as a National Human Rights Institution is to initiate national inquiries into “widespread, systemic or entrenched situations or practices that violate human rights.” Samoa's first National Inquiry will address family violence and this short film was produced to launch the inquiry during the 2016 celebration of Human Rights Day in Samoa, 8 December 2016.
