Common Hogweed Shoots | Forage and Cook | Delicious Wild Food 😋

Описание: Common hogweed is an ubiquitous hedgerow and roadside plant in the UK, it is also a great food source. The tender young stalks have a long season from February to September and they are delicious served similar to asparagus or as a Chinese style green vegetable in oyster sauce as I demonstrate here.

Mature plants can be cut back to encourage new growth of the tender shoots. The tight flower buds later in the season can be prepared and served just as you would do broccoli florets. Finally the seeds can be dried and used as a substitute for cardamom, because they have a very similar flavour and aroma.

Caveat:
Always make positive identification of wild plants and fungi using an authoritative source. If in doubt, leave it out!
