The Kansas City Royals are seriously considering relocating to North Kansas City, especially after their downtown stadium proposal in the Crossroads District was rejected by voters in April 2024. Kansas remains in the mix, but North Kansas City has emerged as a leading contender, thanks in part to Missouri's Senate Bill 3 and other incentives including what could be up to ½ cent sales tax toward stadium building and improvements over the next 40 years. The Royals could decide their final destination and make an announcement by the end of October, according to Pete Mundo and his close sources. This could also push the Kansas City Chiefs to make a decision of their own, choosing to stay at Arrowhead Stadium in KCMO and ask for a ¼ cent tax from Jackson County or the team could decide to move to Kansas and build a new domed stadium.
