In this video I look at how Noel Gallagher “steal” riffs from T. Rex and John Lennon and give you simple tricks you can use to transform a riff you love into your own.
The key is knowing what to change.
If you want to borrow ideas without just copying them, you need to alter at least two of these three things:
Rhythm
Order
Add / subtract notes
In the video I break down real examples and show how the same notes can become completely different riffs just by changing these elements.
