Ethiopia Launches $10K Golden Visa

Something interesting happened this week that did not make major headlines in the Western press.

The government of Ethiopia has introduced a new 10-year Golden Visa for foreign investors, priced at approximately $10,000.
At first glance, that number might not seem dramatic. In the world of global residency programs, however, it is almost astonishing.

Many Golden Visa programs around the world require investments of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Some demand a million.

Portugal once required real estate purchases above $500,000.
The United States EB-5 program requires roughly $800,000 in qualifying investments.Even Caribbean citizenship programs often start near $100,000.

And yet here is Ethiopia, one of Africa’s largest and fastest-growing economies, opening a decade-long residency pathway for the price of a modest used car.
