This is Nahuatl, the 1974 self-titled album by the Mexican heavy psych and hard rock band Nahuatl. Released on the Raff label (RF-979) as part of the Serie Hot Rock line, this LP stands as one of the heavier underground rock records to come out of Mexico during the 1970s.
Recorded at a time when Mexican rock bands had limited exposure and faced cultural restrictions, the album leans into distorted guitars, extended jams, and darker psychedelic moods. The sound sits between heavy psych, hard rock, and early progressive rock, with a raw and unpolished edge that reflects the underground nature of the scene.
