Guist Creek Marina and Campground, Shelbyville, KY - a very special meet up! October 2024, Ep. 66.

Описание: Our last camping trip of the season, from October 21-24, 2024. We usually spend the last couple of weeks of October at our timeshare in Belleair Beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Sadly, our place was destroyed in the recent hurricanes, and at this point, we are unsure of the future of our beloved beach sanctuary. We are hoping to return again someday.

So that opened up the opportunity for one more late fall camping trip, and we jumped on it! We stayed at Guist Creek Marina and Campground in Shelbyville, KY, very close to the home of one of Joe's Facebook friends, Mike Harrod, who we were meeting in person for the first time. They had met on a FB forum about Daniel Boone, who happens to be Joe's 5th great-grandfather. Joe has been obsessed with learning as much as he can about "D. Boone" ever since he made the discovery during his genealogy research. Mike is a native Kentuckian, and an expert on Daniel Boone, in addition to being a guitar player and a fisherman, so they have a lot in common! We enjoyed meeting him and his wife, Karen. It was a wonderful visit, full of interesting conversation and music around a campfire - what could be better?
We did enjoy the campground, and got some kayak fishing in as well. It was a good last trip of the season, and now on to making plans for next year!
