The Royal Academy of Engineering awards Ingenious grants to projects which support public engagement with engineering. These short videos demonstrating what Ingenious grant holders and engineers have to say about their work and why they wanted to communicate their passion for engineering.
Digital stories for engineers - Trevor Cox talks about his digi-stories project which enables engineers to tell personal stories through short films comprised of audio played over a sequence of still images.
Robots explore the universe - Emma Hughes, a recent graduate engineer working at Halcrow, talks about her participation in the project which has been delivering family workshops over the summer holidays on the theme of robots and space exploration, aimed at 5- to 11-year-olds.
Road safety for primary schools - Rachel Leech talks about her role in this original project which allowed the University of Nottingham to pilot incorporating a public engagement element in the curriculum of its Mechanical Engineering degree.
Is science improving sport? - David James explains how his fellowship is allowing him to explore the social impact of his work in sports engineering, to examine the ethics of engineering athletic performance, and to gauge public opinion on this.
