Tom Tom Club was a side project of Talking Heads' Chris Frantz and Martina Weymouth. They scored a Top 40 hit in 1981 with "Genius Of Love" (hit #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart). "Wordy Rappinghood", released that same year, was the second single from the band's self-titled debut album. That song also made it to #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. It also made it to #1 in Belgium, #2 in the Netherlands, #7 in the UK, #9 in France, #18 in Italy, #35 in New Zealand, and #44 in Australia.
"Wordy Rappinghood" missed the Billboard Hot 100 (but should have) , settling for a peak position on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart at #102. You will agree that this should have been a bigger hit, and deserving of a listen. This is the single 45 version.
