Developed by Microhaem Scientifics (MHS), a Uganda-based company focused on diagnostic solutions, this point-of-care test kit operates on the principle of antibody-antigen agglutination using nano gold particles for visible results, making it suitable for venous or capillary blood without requiring lab equipment or electricity.

The procedure is straightforward: add a blood sample to the test cassette along with buffer, and interpret the lines (control, HbA, HbS, HbC) at exactly 10 minutes for validity—results are not reliable beyond that timeframe.
