Areca Lodge Hotel is a favoured place by many repeat visitors to Pattaya, many will not even consider staying anywhere else. I stayed for a few nights in early October 2017 and this is a video documenting the hotel and some of the facilities you get for your money...

The good, the bad and the ugly:

Good things:
Clean room
2 excellent swimming pools
Excellent location, perfect for the LK Metro gogo bars and the baht buses of central Pattaya
Cheap minibar prices
Complimentary buffet breakfast comes with the room (unfortunately, I never rose early enough to try it)
Rooms are very quiet in the day and night, not much bar or traffic noise
Bathtubs in all rooms

The bad
Ageing hotel, it does show in a few places
Not many plug sockets in the room
Bathroom could have done with a separate shower
WIFI issues, I didn't have any problems but in many online reviews this does come up

The Ugly:
Very small balconies on the Corona Wing

Overall: I liked the Areca Lodge hotel and it's easy to see why so many repeat visitors only ever stay here. It's not a perfect hotel (none are) and is showing it's age a bit. I particularly liked the excellent location with the LK Metro gogo bars being on your doorstep. Getting around central Pattaya is a breeze if the baht buses are used.

I'd definitely recommend it to people who like lounging around the swimming pool in the daytime, as there isn't a hotel in Pattaya with better pools for the money (Sabai Wing is another similar hotel with 2 pools but I found the rooms, location and service weren't as good as Areca Lodge, video review here:    • Pattaya Sabai Wing Hotel - Nice Pool...!!!  ).

Make sure to book as far in advance as possible, and agoda is a good place to check as it had the best rates when I stayed. Be aware Areca Lodge gets busy even in the low season and was at 80% occupancy at the time this video was made.
