A powerful 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck near Punakha, Bhutan, sending tremors across several South Asian countries.

The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of around 10 kilometers, causing strong shaking in Bhutan's major regions, including Thimphu and Paro.

Tremors were also felt in parts of India, including Assam, West Bengal, and Sikkim, as well as in Nepal, Bangladesh, and China. Many residents reportedly rushed out of their homes as the ground shook during the night.

Authorities are currently assessing the situation and monitoring the possibility of aftershocks.
