This footage shows a bobcat (Lynx rufus) rubbing and rolling on the remains of a mule deer at a mountain lion kill/cache/feeding site.
This behavior may involve the bobcat targeting scent glands on its cheeks and neck by rubbing them against the carcass. As the remains are likely marked with the mountain lion's scent, this could serve as a form of scent marking or olfactory communication. The rolling behavior may further distribute these odors across the bobcat's fur.
