Описание: Punjab Floods: Raging waters of the Sutlej on three sides and India-Pakistan border fence on the fourth, Ferozepur’s ‘island’ village Kaluwala has been scripting an unmatched story of survival. On July 11 Sutlej water surged continuously, and most families of the village had to move to the Government Primary School building and take shelter. Till now, the school continues to be the saviour for families whose homes have been washed away in floods.In fact, when it comes to providing relief to this unique village, the administration has been exposed. It is a pitiable fact that the government has even failed to provide them a ‘berhi’ (wooden boat), which is the only mode of transport for this village in case of emergencies. After their own ‘berhi’ was washed away in the floods, the villagers were forced to ‘borrow’ one from the nearby village Tendiwala.
