A Day in Shinjuku’s Most Beautiful Craft Store

In this video I give you a floor-by-floor tour of the brand-new Okadaya Main Store in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district. This legendary craft shop has just reopened in the sleek TF Building (March 2025) and it is packed with everything from yarn, embroidery, beads, lace, and trims to costume fabrics, sewing machines, and cosplay materials.

💡 Here’s the twist: If you are joining us for the Colourful Journey Retreat, you will get to experience Okadaya in person on shrine sale day. We will spend the morning exploring the bustling outdoor market at the nearby shrine with its vintage treasures, and traditional Japanese atmosphere. Then in the afternoon we will head to Okadaya for a full crafting and fabric shopping adventure (we'll also squeeze in some stationery shopping along the way!).

🐱 And if you visit in person, you will be just steps away from the giant 3D cat billboard, one of Shinjuku’s most adorable landmarks.
