India is no longer linked to violent crimes in Canada? Sikh activists would like a word, Carney

Описание: Less than three years ago, Trudeau said there was credible information pointing to the Indian government’s involvement in the assassination of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil.

Less than two years ago, the RCMP said that agents of the Indian government were behind extortions targeting members of the Indian diaspora — particularly the Sikh community.

Less than one year ago, it came out that former NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh’s wife gave birth with a bunch of armed RCMP officers stationed outside her hospital room. The RCMP had determined his life was under imminent threat, as Singh was being closely tracked by an agent that Global News reported was “believed to have ties to a transnational criminal gang and allegedly connected to activities directed by the Indian government.”

Less than one week ago, a Sikh activist in Canada was warned of a threat to his life, and that activist said he believes the government of Indian was involved.

Despite all of this, Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government has news for Canadians: apparently, India is no longer linked to violent crimes in Canada!

That’s what a senior government official told the press ahead of — coincidentally — Carney’s trade mission, which will be stopping in India.

As you can imagine, not everyone is convinced this is true. The most vocal critics of the government’s new stance are members of the diaspora community.

I spoke to some experts who share these concerns.
