The Screen Debut of Bill "Bojangles" Robinson
(from the RKO Radio Picture: "Dixiana")
Orchestration by Max Steiner
Released to theatres on: August 1, 1930
09/05/1930: Reviewer Mordaunt Hall of The New York Times wrote: "Bill Robinson gives an excellent exhibition of tap dancing, which won a genuine round of applause"
So, it seems the highlight of the 100 minute running time was this scene with Bill Robinson.
He outclasses them all with his elegance & proves he is the real King Of the Mardi Gras.
Among the clip highlights:
Some nice shots of Bebe Daniels & a bit of fun with the forgotten team of Wheeler & Woosley.
The Technicolor sequences were considered lost for years but were re-discovered in 1988.
I did a bit of audio tweaking so (with headphones anyway) you can hear the man's shoe squeak.
