I took a bus through Mindanao in the Philippines… an area the U.S. State Department lists as Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution.
Most people would avoid it.
But I wanted to see for myself.
Traveling from General Santos to Davao, everything felt normal… until the bus suddenly stopped at a military checkpoint.
We were told to get off.
Metal detectors. Armed soldiers. Bags being searched.
For a moment, it felt like things could go very differently.

Nothing happened.
No danger. No problems. No drama.
