Composting
Wastes generated from home are of two types - Recyclable wastes and Non- recyclable wastes.
Recyclable waste constitutes the waste from the kitchen like fruit and vegetable peels, egg shells and left over food. They are also called Decomposable wastes as they can be decomposed.
Non recyclable wastes include polythene covers, broken glass, bags, old shoes and toys. They are also called non-decomposable wastes. Non decomposable wastes are disposed off by burying them deep inside the earth. This land is used as a playground or park.
Recyclable wastes are converted to commercially viable products such as manure or bio fertilizers. To convert these wastes into manure they are buried underground where they are left to decompose. They are left untouched for few days. Gradually the waste gets decomposed and then dug out. this waste is then used as manure for plants.Manure provides the basic nutrients required for the healthy growth of plants. This process is called composting.
