In this video I’m putting four watercolor paper brands to the test by painting the same lemon still life on each one. From student grade to professional watercolor paper, you’ll see how the paper surface changes the way watercolor washes flow, blend, and build color.

As I paint, I’ll talk through how each paper handles water control, pigment absorption, soft edges, and glazing techniques. This side-by-side watercolor paper comparison is a great way to understand why experienced artists often say that paper is the most important watercolor supply.
