Produced between 2007 and 2009, it was built in an extremely limited run of just 20 coupés and 15 roadsters, each individually numbered and sold before the car was even unveiled. The Reventón was Lamborghini’s ultimate design experiment — a bridge between the raw power of the Murciélago and the futuristic style of the Aventador that came later.Powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 650 horsepower and 660 newton-meters of torque, the Reventón delivers blistering performance: 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph). It uses Lamborghini’s “e-gear” six-speed automated manual transmission and permanent all-wheel drive, giving it immense traction and stability. The chassis is a steel tube frame covered by lightweight carbon-fiber panels, keeping the total weight around 1,665 kilograms. Carbon-ceramic brakes and electronically adjustable suspension give the Reventón both the stopping power and control expected of a million-euro hypercar.Design is where the Reventón truly stands apart. Chief designer Luc Donckerwolke described it as being inspired by modern fighter jets like the F-22 Raptor. The body’s sharp, angular surfaces and stealth-like geometry make it look like it could slice through the air. Its unique matte “Reventón Grey” paint adds to the aircraft aesthetic, as do the triangular air intakes, aerodynamic channels, and deployable rear spoiler that automatically adjusts with speed. The 18-inch wheels feature carbon-fiber blades inside the spokes to direct air to the brakes, and the lighting setup introduced Lamborghini’s now-iconic Y-shaped LED design.Inside, the Reventón feels like a cockpit. The entire cabin is crafted from Alcantara, aluminum, and carbon fiber, with seats stitched in the same angular pattern as the exterior panels. The instrument cluster is fully digital, displaying either classic-style dials or an aircraft-inspired heads-up interface showing G-forces and speed. It was one of the first supercars to feature a completely reconfigurable TFT display. The driving experience is raw, mechanical, and intense — the naturally aspirated V12 howls as it climbs to 8,000 rpm, and each shift from the single-clutch gearbox hits with force. The Reventón feels more like a machine built for pilots than drivers, combining precision and power with a touch of unpredictability. Despite its intimidating looks, the car remains surprisingly composed thanks to its advanced aerodynamics and all-wheel-drive system. The name “Reventón” means “small explosion” or “burst” in Spanish, and it also honors a legendary fighting bull that killed a matador in 1943 — fitting for a car that’s both beautiful and dangerous. The Reventón originally sold for around €1 million ($1.5 million USD in 2008), but today, surviving examples often trade for well over $3 million due to their rarity and influence on Lamborghini’s modern design language. The Reventón’s importance goes far beyond its numbers. It set the visual tone for the next generation of Lamborghinis, including the Aventador and beyond. Its aircraft-inspired styling, digital instrumentation, and aggressive geometry became core elements of Lamborghini’s identity in the 2010s and 2020s. For collectors and enthusiasts, the Reventón represents a perfect fusion of art, engineering, and mythology — a stealth fighter for the road, built not just to be driven, but to be remembred
